The color palette of the Winter’s Breath collection is inspired by late fall, early winter on the coast. A gentle haze softens parts of the composition, while bursts of plant life, moving water, and sky break through with vivid clarity and punchy color. The materials used* create pockets of luminosity, where matte surfaces contrast with areas of high sheen. These shifting textures interact with light throughout the day, transforming the painting as the sun moves or as evening settles in. Each piece offers a unique and evolving experience, a testament to the interplay between nature, light, and form.

• All paintings are signed on the back and framed in either natural maple or white solid wood float frames (as show in the image gallery).

• They are wired on the back, ready to hang.

*For those geeks interested, a little more detail on the materials: 

The paintings are made with oil paint, cold wax and Flashe. Cold Wax is an oil painting medium composed of a soft, buttery paste made from beeswax, mixed with a small amount of solvent and resin. Flashe, a vinyl-based paint made in France, adds another layer of depth. When combined with traditional oil paint and applied using proper fat over lean oil painting techniques, these materials create a composition full of luminous surprises. Each work features areas of high sheen and matte finishes—moments where light reflects off certain sections, only to be absorbed by other areas. These shifting qualities make viewing the painting a dynamic experience, as the appearance changes with the light at any given moment. However, this same interplay of light and texture presents a challenge when photographing the work: how can one capture the experience of luminosity in a single, static shot? The answer is simple: you can’t. It just needs to be experienced.
